Hello World!

Another Monday, another post…

The lack of updates this week has been due to a lack of things to write about. The post-thesis world of CG has definitely slowed down (at least in comparison to the pre-thesis world anyway). It’s also possible that I’m still in vacation/hibernation mode…

Not too much to report since my last post. The half-marathon training is going well (check out my progress here) – I completed a 19k run on Sunday in 1 hour and 47 minutes solo. And was so proud of myself that I stopped at Starbucks on the way home – a venti, no water, no foam, non-fat Tazo Chai was definitely in order.

As well, I successfully completed Atlas Shrugged and The Walking Dead, both of which were enjoyable (although the former was a little over done – did John Galt’s radio speech really need to be 30 pages, really?). Apparently there’s an Atlas Shrugged movie out there somewhere (or coming out soon) that I will have to see. I think that the next book that I’ll be reading is Ghost of Medal Pocket.

Ayn Rand and the Walking Dead

It’s been a little over two months, but I am finally nearing the end of Atlas Shrugged. Although the novel got off to kind of a slow start, I’ve had a handful of days recently where I’ve just been hooked. Today’s page count started at 709 and I’m optimistic about being finished the book by the end of the month. It’s been quite a ride! I’ve often been told that I would enjoy Ayn Rand, so I’m very happy that EJ dropped the book in my lap post-thesis.

In other news, I’ve also started watching the AMC series The Walking Dead. I’m about 4 episodes in and am thoroughly enjoying the first season. It’s eery, well-written, and interesting. What more can you ask for?
